UIDLC GETS NINTH DEPUTY REGISTRAR

Posted on: Jan 02, 2019 | Author : Dayo Olajide

University of Ibadan Distance Learning Centre (UIDLC) is a subset of the University of Ibadan which makes it a complete institution on its own. The components of Unibadan's Central Management are visibly replicated in the Centre. It is also sufficient to say that the culture and philosophies of the university are adequately entrenched in the Centre. Specifically, the Registrar who is the chief administrator of the university is duly represented by the Deputy Registrar. The Deputy Registrar also doubles as the Secretary of the Centre. All correspondences are directed to the Deputy Registrar's office for further and necessary action. It is also noteworthy that secretarial responsibilities are also coordinated and facilitated by the same office.

The Centre clocked thirty in 2018 and has had eight Deputy Registrars. Today being the first working day of the year 2019, the Centre received its ninth Deputy Registrar. Mrs. Francisca Iyabode Ayodele is one of the administrators recently appointed to the keenly contested and exalted office of Deputy Registrar in the university. Prior her deployment to the Distance Learning Centre, Francisca Ayodele was a Principal Assistant Registrar and the Examinations Officer (Undergraduate). Her wealth of experience in administration lays credence to the confidence reposed in her by the university administration to steer the wheels of the UIDLC administration. With over one hundred staff members in its workforce, it is believed that her tenacity and circumspection would herald a new dawn in the Centre.

Francisca Ayodele has risen through the ranks and has served as Examinations Officer and Admissions Officer in the former Postgraduate School, now Postgraduate College. The General Studies Programme was another platform where she served as Programme Officer. Being a Senior Assistant Registrar at that time, she deployed her administrative proclivities and contributed significantly to the Centre. Her five year contributions to the admissions office (undergraduate) as Admissions Officer also remain indelible. She also made notable contributions at the faculty level when she served as Faculty Officer at Faculty of Science for six years.

Pointedly, astute administrators are noted to be members and secretaries of committees and boards in the university. Francisca Ayodele has impressive wealth of experience serving in this capacity in the university. This includes attendance at statutory meetings in the university.

The Registry of the UIDLC is made up of personnel in the administrative, executive and secretarial cadres. It is the fibre that holds administrative tasks together. Therefore, the task of the Deputy Registrar ranges from assigning responsibilities and schedule of duty, trainings, retraining and personnel deployment, giving administrative support to the Directorate, coordinating field officers, processing of appointments and promotions. Pertinently, Francisca Ayodele is that square peg that fits the square hole.

Consequently, the new UIDLC Deputy Registrar has not risen as a lone tree in the administrative terrain, she mentors budding administrators. She graciously assigns responsibilities through close mentoring with a willingness to fan the passion for excellence to flame in her protégés. There is indeed no gainsaying the fact that the achievements of previous Deputy Registrars in the Centre would be consolidated by her.

As the Director, the Management and the entire staff of the Centre receive her today January 2, 2019, I can only pray that her tenure would be blissful and marked by profound achievements.
